Mojito and a mask? Now that sounds like the perfect way to kick off the weekend!
I have been having a lot of breakouts recently (I swear, I have more breakouts in my 30s than I did in my teens! Anyone else?), so when I saw this fun looking mask at Riley Rose I knew I had to try it.
The Leaders Insolution Juicy Mojito Clearing Mask is made with the below great ingredients and claims to clear up and smooth skin.
Lime Peel Extract – treats acne, blemishes and dark spots while possessing anti-aging properties. It also leaves your skin glowing.
Coconut – moisturizes, fights the signs of aging and stimulates the production of collagen.
The Verdict: It totally works! I used this face mask last night, and my skin felt instantly smoother afterwards, my breakouts were less pronounced and my skin looked so much better this morning. Plus… it smells like a Mojito! If you struggle with breakouts, you should totally check it out.
By now, you know I’m a huge fan of serums and their ability to fight off the signs of aging, so I was excited to try Yeouth Skincare’s Vitamin C & E Serum with Hyaluronic Acid. This gel serum has the perfect ingredients to achieve that “Yeouth”-ful look:
Vitamin C – This antioxidant boosts collagen production, improving skins elasticity and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while preventing new ones.
Vitamin E – This antioxidant protects the skin from free radicals and reduces skin damage caused by UV rays. Vitamin E is also commonly known as a “wound healer.”
Hyaluronic Acid – the miracle ingredient that is showing up in tons of skincare products, Hyaluronic Acid hydrates the skin and stimulates cell regeneration, acting similar to retinol but without the side effects.
I have been using this serum for two weeks, and I am a fan. It has definitely helped my skin stay hydrated during these bitter cold days and has helped my skin achieve that youthful look.
This week’s face mask may not be pretty, but it sure does give a “shot” of hydration.
With this cold winter weather (and feeling a little under the weather), my skin has been really dry so it seemed like the perfect time to try Dr. Jart+’s Shake & Shot Rubber Hydro Mask. I had been eyeing this mask for a while and love that it’s a little different. Two pouches come in this cup, and you pour both pouch contents into it and shake until you have a mask! How fun?!
This mask feels refreshingly cool when applied to the skin, and with a combination of Vitamin B5 and an “expert moist complex” it sure does deliver on the hydration. You should totally check it out.
And word to the wise… be careful when opening the pouches to pour the contents into the cup for mixing so you don’t end up with a big mess on your bathroom counter… LOL.
Toner… It’s the often forgotten step in a skincare routine that can make a huge difference in the appearance of your skin. It removes the remaining dirt your cleanser missed, levels out your skin’s pH balance, can help hydrate your skin and even allow the products you use afterwards to absorb better.
As far as toners go, I have been using California Pure Naturals Clarifying Toner for the past month. It has their signature Blackberry Antioxidant Complex that brightens and energizes the skin along with Black Tea, Rose Geranium and Cucumber to soothe the skin, minimize pores and even out your skin tone.
When using this Clarifying Toner, my skin has a refreshing tingling feeling and it leaves my face feeling extra cleansed.
Happy Face Mask Friday! So ever since I was a little girl at the San Diego Zoo, I have loved pandas. My sorority’s mascot was a panda. Even my oldest daughter’s nursery was panda themed (and that was before you could find panda room decor… thank goodness Etsy was an option!), so when I saw this SNP Panda Brightening Sheet Mask, I knew I had to try it. Plus, with all this cold and gloomy winter weather, my skin has been looking a little dull.
This Panda mask is super fun and easy to use. After cleansing your face, apply this mask, leave it on for 10-20 minutes, massage the remaining serum into your face afterwards and your done.
But what did I think of this super cute mask? While my skin didn’t necessarily appear brighter, it was very soothing and refreshing and I would use it again.
So, I haven’t been so great at writing my restaurant reviews here recently, but that’s about to change… Starting now.
This Tasty Tuesday is actually lacking the tasty part, unfortunately. I was excited to try Lucky’s Steakhouse over the weekend, but boy did it turn out to be a terrible experience from beginning to end. I actually left there hungry because the food was that bad. Instead of highlights, I’ve actually listed some of the lowlights below.
Let’s start at the very beginning. It took over 30 minutes to receive our drinks… for Diet Coke… From a fountain. Our appetizers had already arrived and been eaten to the most they would be (more on that next), and the salads were already started on. And to top it off, the carbonation was so bad. The pop/soda/Diet Coke (depending on what you call it) was so flat and almost undrinkable.
Since we were trying a new restaurant, we wanted to try a variety of foods they had to offer, so we started with a Sampler Appetizer. It included Ribs, Chicken Fingers, Loaded Fries and Onion Rings. The app arrived lukewarm at best and the taste was that of bad bar food. The chicken batter had a burnt aftertaste (not to mention they put the BBQ ribs on top of the Chicken Fingers, so the kids were upset they couldn’t eat the chicken since they don’t like BBQ). The fries were cold and soggy and the best part was the Onion Rings, which were nothing special and I’ve had better at countless restaurants.
Next up was the Prime French Dip. And it was for lack of a better word terrible. Even our server commented that their Prime Rib Sandwich was gross. There was barely any meat on the bread and what little Prime Rib was actually on the sandwich was incredibly dry and tasteless. Needless to say I sent it back and couldn’t stomach to try anything else based off of how bad the experience had been. Literally, the first time I have ever done that.
In conclusion, Lucky’s Steakhouse may be the shiny new toy of a place in the Lansing area, but steer clear. It’s not worth your money. As my hubby put it, “you know it’s bad when you’re sitting at a steakhouse eating and a Taco Bell commercial comes on and you’d rather be eating there.”
I don’t know about you, but I love face serums. They can be the key to a great skincare routine with the ability to do amazing things for your skin. That said, I was super excited to try California Pure Naturals Renewal Facial Serum. It has the same Blackberry Antioxidant Complex as their Cleanser, plus Argan Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. And it’s a natural skincare product.
I have been using this serum for the past few weeks, and so far I am happy with the results. It has a nice, smooth texture, is easy to apply, absorbs well into the skin, helps keep my skin hydrated (I’ve seriously gone without a moisturizer a couple nights, and my skin was still moisturized!) and all the right ingredients to fight the signs of aging.
