Candy Cane Dreams… and Masks

Processed With Darkroom

Can you believe that it is the last Face Mask Friday of 2018?! This year flew by. And since it is technically still the holidays, I decided to try Ulta Beauty’s Sweet Candy Cane Mud Mask. With cooling peppermint oil and shea butter, this mask is supposed to be incredibly moisturizing.

I love the pink color of this face mask. It brightens up a gloomy day. And though I was skeptical of what the results would be, I can say that my skin felt moisturized and smoother after using this. The only downside? Since it is a Candy Cane face mask with peppermint oil, I expected it to have that refreshing peppermint smell (confession – I love peppermint!!!), but it was lacking that scent. That said, I would say this mask is still worth checking out.

The Forgotten Skincare… A “Yeouth”-ful Neck!

The neck and décolletage areas are frequently ignored in a skincare routine (thus making them the first giveaways of age). Because of this, I was excited to try Yeouth Skincare’s Neck Firming Cream. With Green Tea, Argireline and Vitamin C, this neck cream not only moisturizes, it tightens sagging skin, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improves skin elasticity. But how? Let’s take a closer look at these ingredients.

Green Tea – Green Tea has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory abilities, which can slow down the signs of aging. It has also been known to reduce the effects of sun damage.

Argireline – Argireline is a peptide commonly referred to as “Botox in a Bottle.” It stimulates collagen production and can theoretically limit the ability of neurotransmitters to activate facial movement, therefore reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitamin C – Vitamin C is an antioxidant with anti-aging properties that brightens skin, improves hydration and can even out your skin tone.

All of these combined can make for a great neck cream. I’ve been using this product for almost two weeks now, and noticed a difference after the first use. It is incredibly moisturizing and definitely helps combat those neck wrinkles and sagging skin along the jawline. Now I can wrap all these Christmas gifts as the neck cream works its magic.

Naughty… or Nice Face Mask

Processed With Darkroom

Now, if this is the lump of coal Santa leaves, it may be ok to be a little naughty… Just kidding! Or am I???

So I tried this Lump Of Coal face mask from Bath and Body Works. It’s infused with purifying charcoal and claims to revitalize and rejuvenate the skin. I would say it did just that. My face felt cleansed and refreshed when I removed it. Perfect for a makeup free Friday!

Overall, much better than the other Bath and Body Works mask I tried. Since this one was successful, I plan to try out more of their masks in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned!

The Gift Of Beauty… Guide

Processed With Darkroom

I don’t know about you, but this is my favorite time of year to stock up on all of those beauty goodies. Why? Because you either get the products you love at a lower price, or try that item you’ve been eyeing, but it was out of price range. And even better…. If you wait till closer to Christmas, you can get an even better deal! Like on this Kate Somerville Ageless Radiance set. It is a value of $173 if you bought each product individually,  and you could get all of this for $110 around Thanksgiving… but now it’s on sale for only $77! The DermalQuench alone is $98, so this gift set more than pays for itself. All of that said, whether you’re shopping for yourself or that person who loves all things beauty, I have rounded up some of the best beauty deals out there in the below Beauty Gift Guide. Enjoy!

Charcoal And Gold… Mask

Processed With Darkroom

Woohoo, it’s Friday! Who else is ready for the weekend? Anyway, this Face Mask Friday I was excited to try the Masque Bar 24k Black Gold Peel-Off Mask that was in my Influenster Let It Snow Vox Box. With charcoal and 24k gold, this mask is supposed to draw out impurities and brighten the skin.

Not going to lie, I was a little nervous to try this mask since the last charcoal peel-off mask I tried was so painful to remove. I am happy to report that this one peeled off really easily and my skin felt cleaner and looked brighter afterwards.

Skincare Secret Weapon – Toner

Did you know Toner can be a secret weapon in your skincare routine? It helps get rid of excess dirt your cleanser missed, restores your skin’s pH balance and can even help products used afterwards absorb deeper into the skin.

I use Murad Skincare’s Resurgence Hydrating Toner. It’s super simple to incorporate into your routine. Just spray it on your face after cleansing. It leaves your skin feeling refreshed as it helps lock in moisture.

Soothe The Skin

I don’t know about you, but this cold weather does a number on my skin (especially the wind!), so I tried Patchology’s Soothe Flashmasque. With Aloe Vera, Cotton Seed and Shisandra Berry, it calms redness and moisturizes the skin. And the best part? You only leave it on for 5 minutes! This mask does exactly what it says it does. My skin felt refreshed and moisturized afterwards.

Behind The Hair – Chicago

So when I was a teenager looking through gossip and beauty magazines I always loved Jennifer Aniston’s hair and swore that if I ever found out who colored her hair, I would go to them. Imagine my excitement when I was living in DC and discovered her hair colorist – Michael Canale – traveled to DC monthly to color his clients’ hair, which includes several politicos as well. He’s been doing my hair ever since from coast to coast, and I’m happy to say he’s not only an awesome colorist but a great person that I am glad to call a friend. Even more exciting, he colors hair in Chicago while his cousin, a celebrity stylist, Jeffrey Martinez cuts at Bentley Hair & Beauty. Now I drive to Chicago from Michigan for my hair appointments and leave with A-list hair 😀. If you are in the Chicago area (or those that want to join me on a road trip to the Windy City), I highly recommend you give this hair dream duo a try. You will love the results!

Fountain of Yeouth

Who else feels like our under eye skin is the first area to show signs of aging? Because of this, I was super excited to start using Yeouth Skincare’s Retinol Eye Cream with Hyaluronic Acid, Caffeine and Green Tea. The Caffeine and Green Tea help de-puff and brighten dark circles. Retinol stimulates the renewal of skin cells, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. And Hyaluronic Acid is a great anti-aging ingredient that also helps keep the area moisturized.

I’m happy to say that I have noticed a difference under my eyes since starting to use this eye cream. I also haven’t needed concealer under my eyes! You should totally check it out.

Add A Little Glitter… Mask

It’s Fri-Yay! Since the holiday season is in full swing, I wanted some sparkle in this week’s face mask.

I tried GlamGlow’s Glittermask, and I’m a fan. Not only is it super fun with all the sparkle, my skin looked and felt smoother afterwards. It also came with a nifty brush for easy, mess-free application.

The verdict – another glowing face mask from GlamGlow!
