It is that time of year… I don’t know about you, but it’s my Christmas in July… The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Great Wolf Lodge Experience

Groupon!

Great Wolf Lodge. The kids have been asking us to go there for what feels like forever. Truth be told, my hubby and I thought it may be too gimmicky and too expensive when we’d rather put the money towards a trip to Disney World. But… A Groupon deal came up for a $94 per night rate. You read that right… only $94 a night, and that included water park entry. Sure it was over Mother’s Day, but let’s be honest, I can celebrate Mother’s Day with my family at anytime. That deal was only good for a couple days, so I took full advantage. And I’m glad I did!

The Room!

When we arrived at the resort, we ended up upgrading to a Kid’s Cabin Suite (it was an additional $35 a night so still only $129 a night), and the kids were thrilled. The room was so fun, spacious and cute! It included a fireplace, balcony and “Cabin” area (I mean… it is called the Kid’s Cabin Suite…) for the kids, where they had bunkbeds, a little table and their own television. And, the most important part… The room was very clean.

The Waterpark!

The Indoor Waterpark… This is probably what Great Wolf Lodge is best known for. The Traverse City location features 3 tube slides, 2 regular water slides, 3 kiddie slides and kiddie pool, a lazy river, 2 hot tubs (one kid-friendly, one adult only), a water basketball area, an activity pool that includes balancing lily pads and their famous water tower.

The kids loved splashing around the waterpark. While my youngest went down the kiddie slides on loop (seriously… I’m sure she went down the slides a few hundred times… Thank goodness for poolside strawberry daiquiris! LOL), my oldest jumped from the tube slides to the lazy river to the Totem Tower slides to the basketball area and back around again. And they both had a blast! And not going to lie… I always love a good tube slide too. 🙂

Another thing I found interesting about the pool area, is the staff could frequently be seen cleaning everything down or running life guard drills by planting a “dummy” in the pool areas to see how long it took the lifeguards to see and “rescue” him.

But the best part about our time in the waterpark? Since we were there during a slower time of year, there were no lines! It should also be noted that they also have an outdoor pool area that’s open in the summers.

More Fun!

One thing that surprised me about Great Wolf Lodge is how many more activities they had for the kids! Probably the favorite amongst my family was the MagiQuest – A scavenger hunt that involves magical wands, riddles and exploring the entire hotel to complete various quests that ends in a duel with a Dragon or a challenge with a Pixie. It was a great way to get moving, explore the property and use our brains to solve the riddles.

In addition to the MagiQuest, the resort also has a Bedtime Story Time, Clock Tower show, Miniature Golf, Morning Yoga for the kids, Bowling, a Creation Station (basically a Build A Bear for the Lodge) and an arcade.

The Food!

Resort food. It can be hit or miss depending on the resort, so I was skeptical of how good the food options would be at Great Wolf Lodge. And I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised at how yummy the food was! They also had plenty of food options for a variety of dietary concerns (including Gluten Free!) at a variety of restaurants.

If you want a sit down meal at a regular restaurant, head to the Camp Critter Bar & Grill. They have everything from burgers, salads and chicken to pastas and grilled cheese. Plus, they had some tasty rolls (we seriously went through 3 baskets!) and a delicious Pineapple Mango Margarita.

If you’re craving pizza and pasta, head to Hungry As A Wolf (the pizza was delish… and my youngest ate 2 whole pieces!). Hanging by the pool, Buckets Incredible Craveables has you covered with tasty chicken fingers, burgers, fries, flatbread, pretzels and more. If you want something sweet, head to the Ice Cream shop or the Candy Store. And don’t forget… Dunkin Donuts will deliver breakfast to your room in the morning!

Overall!

We had an amazing experience! If the opportunity arises, you should totally head to Great Wolf Lodge for a quick getaway filled with family fun! And don’t forget to check Groupon for a great deal!

Happy Face Mask Friday! So I’ve been using Pixi Beauty’s Glow collection for several weeks now and decided to stick with the glowing theme and try their Glow Mud Mask. Full of ingredients that detoxify and brighten the skin, this mask sounded like it would work great.

The ingredients:

  • Kaolin Clay: This ingredient is excellent for detoxifying the skin. It’s known for drawing out excess oil and doesn’t dry out the skin. Plus, it’s safe for sensitive skin.
  • Sea Salt: Sea Salt cleanses the pores and can fight acne causing bacteria.
  • Ginseng: Ginseng is a great anti-aging ingredient that brightens and tones the skin.
  • Aloe: This anti-inflammatory ingredient helps retain moisture, fight acne and soothe the skin.

The Verdict: I always love a good mud mask, and this Glow Mud Mask is another winning skin treat from Pixi Beauty. My skin looked and felt cleaner, smoother and glowing. Plus, it wasn’t dried out. You should totally check it out!

Happy Face Mask Friday! This week I decided to add some glow (and gold!) to my skincare routine with Oh K!’s Glowing Skin Gold Foil Sheet Mask. This K Beauty mask fights the sings of aging and acne while soothing the skin and leaving a healthy glow. But why? Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients:

  • Gold – Gold is a great skincare ingredient known for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin elasticity and leaving the skin glowing.

I don’t know about you, but as each year ticks by, I continue to search for products that will help keep my skin looking “yeouthful.” Retinol is a great ingredient to do just that… And when combined with the ingredients of Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E and Aloe, you have Yeouth Skincare’s Retinol 2.5 Serum.

Ingredients:

  • Retinol – Retinol is a form of Vitamin A that stimulates the renewal of skin cells, therefore diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smoothing out the skin and even preventing acne outbreaks.

Who else is glad it’s Friday?! I know I am, and that means it’s time for another Face Mask Friday. Woohoo!

A little over a week ago, I received 16 different K Beauty face masks from Cos W Cosmetics, and I decided to try the Tea Tree one first. Tea Tree Oil is such a great ingredient for skin. It has the ability to soothe sensitive skin, calm redness, reduce inflammation, clear up breakouts and so much more.

The Verdict: With the scent of tea tree oil (it kind of smelled like a spa!), this face mask felt soothing to the skin from the moment is was applied. And the Tencel Cupro Fabric (it’s thinner and more absorbent than cotton) this mask is made out of almost magnetically sticks to the skin and stays in place. Afterwards, my skin felt refreshed and in the following days, my breakouts from a derma roller experience (we’ll go into that later) started to go away. I love mud masks for detoxifying the skin. They help clear up acne, minimize pores, exfoliate, fight the signs of aging and give the skin a deep cleanse.

Now, imagine that mud mask is a turned into a sheet mask. That is exactly what Patchology did with their SmartMud Detox Mask. It’s a mud mask without the mess… well, at least most of the mess. LOL. It is a little messy with application because the mud on the sheet, but much better than taking it straight out of a jar.

The Verdict: This 2 piece mud mask is another Pathology winner! Using volcanic ash sourced from South Korea, this mask left my skin deeply cleansed and glowing.

Bliss’s FabuLips is Fabu-Not

Happy Skincare Sunday! Hopefully you all had a great weekend and are adjusting to the time change and lost hour of sleep. Not going to lie, Spring Forward is always a little rough for me… LOL.

So, I normally love all things Bliss. I always love their Oxygen Facials at their spas, use their Makeup Melt to remove my makeup and have a lot of success with their masks. That said, I was excited to finally try their Fabulips Sugar Scrub and Polish and had such high hopes for it. I really wanted to love it. But… to be completely honest with you… it was just ok.

The Positives:

  • With ingredients that include natural oils, vitamins and butters, this product is incredibly moisturizing.
  • It smells delish!

The Negatives:

  • With sugar granules and walnut shells, you would think this would be a great scrub… but it’s not. It barely exfoliates the lips.
  • It leaves the lips and skin around your mouth very oily.

The Verdict – I would not recommend this product. There are better options out there.

Just A Little Healing Mask

A huge thank you to The Healing Tree for sending me these Collagen Face Masks for Acne Prone Skin to review. I tried one earlier this week, and the mask has a relaxing minty scent and feels very cooling on the skin.

This mask is both environmentally friendly (it even uses biodegradable paper) and filled with effective ingredients. See below:

  • Fish Collagen – Did you know fish collagen is a Type 1 collagen that absorbs more efficiently than any other form of collagen? It is a great anti-aging ingredient that makes the skin look smoother and firmer while increasing cell regeneration.
  • Calendula – Extracted from Marigolds, Calendula oil is thought to possess antibacterial and anti-inflammatory elements, which makes it a common skincare ingredient to fight and clear up acne.
  • Tea Tree Oil – Tea Tree Oil is known to have a lot of benefits for skin. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiseptic elements, making it a great ingredient to fight acne, soothe skin and itchiness and even help heal wounds.

After using this face mask, I did not notice much of an immediate difference in my skin… BUT, in the following days, I did notice that my breakouts started to clear up. That said, if you are looking for a mask that works instantly, this might not be for you. But if you are ok waiting a couple days for the ingredients of this mask to improve your skin, you should totally check it out.
